Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: Email address, username, profile picture, and any linked social media accounts.
• Email Preferences: If you choose to receive GameTier news and new feature emails, we record your email address, the wording and version of your consent, when and where you subscribed, and subsequent changes to your choice. Signing in with Google does not subscribe you.
• Content You Provide: Game ratings, reviews, collections, and any other content you create on GameTier.
• Automatically Collected Data: Device type, browser type, IP address, and basic log data. To diagnose sign-in problems, we also count authentication steps and error categories in aggregate. These counters contain no email addresses, passwords, account identifiers or page URLs. A daily rotating, server-generated hash of the IP address is used separately for short-lived rate limiting. Counters use a rolling 90-day history.
• Optional Session Replays: With your consent, PostHog records page views, clicks, scrolling, and changes to the page to help us improve GameTier. Form inputs are masked, and authentication, account settings, and admin pages are excluded. We do not send your account email or password to PostHog.
• Third-Party Data: We use the IGDB API to display game information. This data is stored on our servers to improve loading speed and user experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve GameTier’s services.
• Display user-generated content and collections.
• Show relevant advertisements.
• Offer subscription features (including ad removal).
• Communicate important updates and service changes.
• Send optional news and new feature emails only if you subscribe. You can unsubscribe in Settings or through the link in each news email, without signing in. Essential account and security messages are separate.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

• Contract: To provide you with our service.
• Consent: For optional news emails, PostHog analytics cookies and session replays. Email subscriptions are optional and separate from accepting our terms or analytics cookies.
• Legitimate Interest: For basic aggregate analytics, fraud prevention, and improving the platform.

4. Sharing Your Information

• Service Providers: Hosting, payment processing, and customer support tools. We use Resend to deliver emails and Supabase to store account data and email preferences.
• Analytics Providers: Vercel provides basic website analytics. If you accept optional analytics, PostHog processes usage events and session replays through its European cloud service.
• Legal Authorities: If required by law or to protect our rights.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Cookies

We use cookies to store preferences and enable core site features.
Optional PostHog cookies and session replays start only after you select Accept all. You can select Deny and continue using GameTier, or change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawing consent stops future PostHog collection; it does not automatically delete earlier recordings. You may request deletion by contacting us.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access, update, or delete your personal data.
• Request a copy of your data (data portability).
• Withdraw consent at any time.
• File a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion at any time.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States. We take measures to ensure your information remains protected.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page.
